Coaches, Jon Urbanchek

One of the most loved coaches in the sport of swimming, Jon Urbanchek has trained many of the world's best athletes.  Most well known for his 22 year tenure as the head coach at the University of Michigan, Jon is considered one of the finest swimming coaches to ever grace the pool deck. Whether it be his success in the Big Ten, at the club level, or coaching the USA Swimming National Teams, Urbanchek has reached greatness at every level.

At the University of Michigan, Urbanchek lead the Wolverines to 10 consecutive Big Ten Conference Championship titles (13 in total), many are awestruck by his success. Urbanchek's swimmers have consistently been present on various U.S. teams representing the country world-wide. Head coach of various World Championship Teams, eight time Big Ten Coach of the Year, 1995 NCAA Coach of the Year, and 1990 and 1995 United States Swimming Coach of the Year, Urbanchek is hailed as one of America's premier swim coaches.

Urbanchek has recently returned to his Orange County roots to coach the FAST club team in Fullerton, California. Completing the circle by returning to his previous club coaching position, the young-at-heart coach is enjoying skateboarding to the pool and surfing after practice. Coaching current swimming stand-outs such as Tyler Clary, Urbanchek shows no sign of slowing down in the near future. Known for his laid back attitude yet explosive results, Urbanchek is a legend in the sport of swimming.

Urbanchek resides in Fullerton with his wife Melanie. The couple has one daughter, Kristin.  Away from the pool you can find Urbanchek surfing the globe.
